What is Facial Acupuncture?

Facial Acupuncture increases the radiance of the face and encourages the skin to become smoother, having anti-wrinkle effects, all the while having the face look natural.

Facial Acupuncture is one of the timeless beauty therapies practiced by the Chinese since the Sung Dynasty (960-1279AD), preserving the youth & beauty of royalty. Stimulation of the body's own healing capability and ageing reversal powers is the key to this aesthetic procedure. Even in today's modern methods of injecting chemicals and surgery on the face, Facial Acupuncture remains to be a fully natural method of needling back the hands of time.

How does Facial Acupuncture work?

Cosmetic facial acupuncture is a non-invasive treatment that involves using hair thin needles placed at strategic points in the face to improve the condition of the skin. When we place these needles in the face we create micro trauma, which the body will respond to in order to heal. This minor damage created in the dermis is believed to encourage the skin's own repairing mechanisms to stimulate cell re-growth, which then increases the production of collagen + elastin.

More collagen + elasticity in the face equals fewer wrinkles + smoother, more toned skin.

Think of the process similar to the way that you create micro-tears in your muscle fibres from exercise. Your body reacts to this new trauma of strength training by repairing + rebuilding the muscles worked to recuperate, come back bigger and stronger.

Further-more, facial acupuncture does not only tackle your face, needles are also placed at a few points on the body to balance your whole body + organ systems. This holistic treatment works well so that your face can exhibit the healthy glow from within and not just skin deep at the face level. This is unlike methods such as botox injections, fillers, chemical peels and surgical facelifts were the face, and only the face, is addressed.

How long is the course of Facial Acupuncture

As this is a fully natural method to rejuvenate the face, time and effort is required of the patient to upkeep the sessions for accumulative effects of acupuncture to take place.

A typical course consists of 10 - 12 consecutive treatments, 1 - 2 times a week. While results are often noticeable after just a few sessions, a full course allows deeper, more lasting results to occur as it takes our bodies between 8 - 12 weeks to grow new collagen.

After this initial course, monthly maintenance appointments are encouraged to maintain results.
