Acupuncture
Treating with Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into specific acupoints to correct 'blood and Qi' disorders and harmonise the functions and structures of the body.  The number of needles can vary and they are left in place for approximately 15-30 minutes.  The benefits:

  • Ongoing improvement with each successive treatment

  • Stimulates blood flow

  • Relaxes and re-trains muscles

  • Soothes tense nerves 

Cupping

This treatment involves application of glass cups to certain points on the body to create a vacuum on the skin that gently pulls in muscle and tissue to draw out toxins, stagnancy or imbalances.  Cupping is a traditional technique that relieves pain and promotes circulation.  If cupping is a part of your treatment plan, it may be left up to 15 minutes for optimal results.  After treatment, many people have painless red or purple discolourations that last from a few hours to several days.

Moxibustion

This treatment involves the burning of a special herb called mugwort which is then applied to specific points on the body either through acupuncture or directly on to the skin.  Moxibustion treatments are useful in removing pain and straightening your body's immune system and circulation.
